Erna Nairz-Wirth is Associate Professor and Head of the Education Sciences Group at Vienna University of Economics and Business. She has designed, conducted numerous studies on education and inequality and is specialized in the fields of educational pathways, dropout in education, school and university development, best practices in dropout prevention and teacher professionalization. She has been editorial board member of the European Toolkit for Schools from 2018-2021, was an expert partner and consortium member of the FP7 project RESL.eu "Reducing Early School Leaving in Europe" and an active member of the Network of Experts working on the Social Dimension of Education and Training (NESET II). Erna Nairz conducted the following projects since 2020, which demonstrate the broad spectrum of her educational research: Non-traditional students. Transition and resilience (2020-2024). Reality shock? Career entry of teachers (2020-2023). Recommendations for action to prevent school absenteeism and early school leaving. The beginning of a new school culture (2021-2024). 4. STOP DROPOUT: A best-practice study to prevent students from dropping out in times of a shortage of skilled labour (2021). She gave her most recent keynote on the topic of "Dropout and Inequality: Dynamic Processes of Inclusion and Exclusion" at the final conference of the EU-funded research project PIONEERED (Luxembourg, 30.01.24).
