Herman van de Werfhorst is professor at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the European University Institute, Florence. His work concentrates on inequalities in and through education. Working with longitudinal panel data, register data, comparative student assessments and comparative survey data, he aims to understand how the educational institutional structure shapes equality of opportunity, the school-to-work transition, and political and civic outcomes of schooling.
