Prof. Flecha is Emeritus Professor (University of Barcelona), Doctor Honoris Causa (University of Vest Timisoara), and DADD Gassprofessor (Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg). He is the first author in Social Impact and Gender Violence (Google Scholar). He chaired the EC Expert Group of 17 scientists from diverse fields to define social and policy impact criteria for Horizon Europe. He is the only SSHH author to lead projects in the last five EC research programs. He has published in top journals such as Nature, Harvard Educational Review, AIMS Neuroscience, Violence Against Women, International Sociology, and obtained 2013 best article prize in Cambridge Journal of Education.
