Description

This document presents the most relevant topics in education research globally (with a higher representation of Europe and the US) in the first half a year (January – June 2024). It provides a summary of important topics and issues covered by recently published research articles that may be relevant to the European Commission’s programme 2023/2024 and the Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport, And Culture (DG EAC) Strategic Plan 2020-2024.

In 2024, the list of journals for tracking research trends was reviewed based on established criteria, with a focus on topic coverage, geographical relevance, and quality assurance. This revision aimed to apply a more transparent and systematic method for key journals selection.

In a significant development, the report has integrated Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools to identify emerging themes within the academic literature. This innovative approach demonstrates significant potential in enhancing the objectivity and efficiency of data processing.
