Factsheets on effective practices for literacy teaching

The factsheets are intended as short, policy-oriented companion documents to the Analytical Report on Effective practices for literacy teaching. Their purpose is to distil key findings of the report into accessible and actionable messages for practitioners, school leaders, and policy stakeholders.

Each factsheet focuses on a specific education level and highlights evidence-informed teaching strategies that are particularly effective in that context.  The four factsheets cover:

• Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC), with a focus on early language development and foundational literacy.
• Primary Education, emphasising structured literacy instruction and inclusive classroom practices.
• Secondary Education, addressing disciplinary literacy and support for diverse learner profiles.
• Vocational Education and Adult Literacy, focusing on functional literacy, workplace relevance, and lifelong learning pathways.

These factsheets are designed to support dissemination by providing targeted entry points for different audiences and by facilitating use.
